About Urdu Department
Sholapur Social Association Arts and
Commerce was founded
in year 1978,
since the inception of the college the department of
Urdu is working. The department has produced
renowned Principals like Dr.H.M. Shaikh. The first
Principal of the college. Dr. Asmat Javed,
a world famous Urdu author and Dr. Mohammad Ali
Wadwan- the third Principal and the founder of SSA
Arts & Commerce College, Solapur. All these
Principals are literary figure of Urdu Literature
and they belongs
to our Urdu Department. This Department imparts
education through Urdu for B.A., and M.A. students.
Besides this, Urdu is being taught at B.Com.-I. This
college has an M.A. department in Urdu and it is
only taught in Punyashlok Ahelyadevi Holkar Solapur
University. Hence Urdu Department
has been a mainstream for graduates and post
graduates
since the establishment of this institution. Urdu
Department also has a Research Centre for PhD. in
PAH Solapur University.
Urdu Department has
qualified staff acquired Ph.D. in Urdu. The
department has honour to say that we have produced
twenty one Gold Medallist at B.A. and M.A. Urdu.
Moreover twenty one students from our department
secured their place in University merits. Seventeen
students have cracked NET & SET exam and are
eligible to become lecturers. Five students from
this department are honoured with Ph.D. degrees.
Many students from this department
have been
working on various posts such as Principals,
Professors, Jr. College lecturers, and teachers in
Sholapur and outside Sholapur. It is an honour and
pride to say that two students of the department are
working as Assistant Professors in PAH Solapur
University, our nine students are working in the
capacity of professors in deferent colleges. There
are a number of students who are rendering their
best of services in Railway, police, revenue, Bank,
and judicial departments. The students from this
department also emerged as Municipal Counsellor,
social worker and Mayor. Some of the professors of
this College are
also students
of
Urdu
department.
Dr. Mohammed Ali Wadwan, Dr. Saeeda
Shaikh, Professor Abdul Jalil Shaikh were the
Chairman of BOS of Shivaji University. Presently Dr.
Md. Shafi Chobdar is working on different academic
post of PAH Solapur University like Chairman of BOS,
member
of
BOS, member of academic council, member of RRC,
member of DRC. Dr. Gous Shaikh is also member of
BOS, DRC and CRC. He is the Captain of NCC Unite
since 2010.
1) Goals of the Department:
The Department of Urdu main objective
is to spread
awareness about Literacy and cultural importance and
relevance of Urdu.
It's aim to promote the Urdu language as the
language of knowledge and Urdu literature as the
Literature of values especially human values that
can with stand and buffeting forces of time.

OBJECTIVES of the Department :
To impart higher education in urdu
literature and research & development for mental,
physical, spiritual scientific temperament and human
values of t he students and teacher,Urdu is the
Indian language as such it plays a vital role in the
development of national harmony and act as a bridge
for different language of India. Indeed it is the
most common medium of instructions and
communication. The department of urdu is thus the
mother department of all languages.

M.A. & Ph.D in depth research of urdu language
and literature for ascertaining multi faceted
values of different ages.

To explore old and new horizons
of urdu literature pertaining to prose, poetry
and criticism.

To foster and environment that
promotes learning through quality teaching and
research while encouraging mutual respect,
tolerance and sensitivity.

To provide qualifies and focuses
professionals in the subject of urdu to meet the
future needs of educational institutes and
cultural industry.

organizations, science and technology.
