About Geography Department

The subject of geography at B. A
Part I level was introduced in the year 1978 and
1981 the geography as a special subject was
introduced at B. A Part III level.
As compared to the other subject
there are more numbers of students who offers
geography at B. A Part III level. Thus the geography
department quantitatively and qualitatively enrich
our college.
The first lecturer
appointed in the college was Mr. K. M. Jamadar. The
subject was taught at the under graduate level as a
general subject. Prin. Mr. K. M. Jamadar, Mrs. Dr.
F. M. Sayyed, Mr. J. T. Thite, Dr. I. S. Patel, Dr.
S. A. Rajgur and Dr. D. S. Narayankar, Dr. M. D.
Shaikh have taught the subject for Arts faculties.
In our department a courses at B. A
I, B. A II, and B. A III level are being taught. We
have books of geography which includes reference
tools like World Geographical Encyclopaedia, Atlas,
and Journals, i.e. – Deccan Geography, Green
Environment, Earth Explorer, IIG and vasundhara.
We have received international
Geographical Journals in the form of Donated A part
from the library of the college the faculty member
have their own collection of books.
Our laboratory of
Geography Department as well equipped which consist
of Maps, Topographical Charts, Sheet, Models,
Surveying instruments, Weather instruments, Aerial
Photographs, Slides, Cassettes, Over Head Projector
and computer etc.
Our department staff actively working
on different committees of P.A.H. Solapur University
regarding Examination and Syllabus formation.
